How to Help the Japanese Disaster Relief Efforts

Hi everyone,

It's been a few days since the catastrophe that fell upon Japan, but the devastating effects of the earthquake and tsunami are still incredibly hard to believe. We have been following the news updates and relief efforts closely and are hoping that the situation will not worsen.

As many of you would have seen your friends' status on Facebook about the disaster, there are a lot of us out there who are wishing for the best for the Japanese. We were inspired by a friend in Australia who wanted to start a donation drive for food, so we wondered what we could do from here. We wrote to the Embassy of Japan in Malaysia asking if they need blankets, food, medicine, clothes or other items. We would then do collection drive and deliver it to them.

A representative from the embassy got back to us with information that they are not collecting donations in kind to be sent over, and are only arranging for monetary donations. They have also announced today direct accounts to the Japanese Red Cross to help the disaster relief efforts.

If you wish to donate, please visit the Embassy of Japan's website below and select the channels that you would like to use (there are several options).

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims, survivors, relief workers and dedicated people who are doing all they can in these very difficult times.
